Description
The Board of Selectmen is established under the Wilbraham By-Laws to serve as the Board of Health and serves as the local Public Health Authority. Public Health is the science and practice of protecting and improving the health of a community through preventive medicine, health education, control of communicable diseases, application of sanitary measures and monitoring of environmental hazards. This includes a wide range of functions and areas, ranging from septic system issues to influenza vaccinations to rabid animals to environmental contaminants. These functions are carried out by various departments and individuals:
