Will you be voting in the upcoming Annual Town Meeting and Annual Town Election? Are you registered to vote? Are you sure?
Town Clerk Beverly J. Litchfield urges all residents to check their voter registration before April 22nd to be sure they are all set. Even if you have been registered to vote for years, many federal and state laws impact your registration status. If you have moved, changed your name, or your local street list form was not received at Town Hall, you may encounter an issue at the polls.
When you registered to vote, you should have received a confirmation notice from the Registrars. If not, your registration may not have reached their office. If your local street list (census) form was not received by Town Hall and you received a postage-paid postcard, fill it out and send it back right away so your information can be updated.
If there is an issue with your voting status, in some cases, you will have to fill out an affidavit and show identification at the polls. In other cases, you may be offered a Provisional Ballot that will only be cast if your registration eligibility is verified. Please call the Town Clerk’s office at (413) 596-2800, Ext. 200 if you have any questions. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. City and town clerks want all eligible citizens to be able to cast their ballot. Act now. Don’t wait. Check your voter registration status!
