Captain Robert Zollo would like to advise residents and visitors that the Wilbraham Police Department will be joining numerous other law
enforcement agencies statewide in support of an intensive crackdown on
impaired driving. This will occur from December 1, 2014 through January 1, 2015, as part
of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization.
The mobilization is funded by a federal grant administered through
the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety
Division.
Wilbraham officers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers
on the roadways. Since twice as many alcohol-impaired crashes occur
over the weekend, and four times as many occur at night, particular
attention will be paid to these high-risk times when impaired drivers
are most likely to be on the roads.
Impaired driving is one of America’s most often committed and
deadliest crimes. Too many motorists and pedestrians have been injured
and killed in impaired driving crashes in Massachusetts. Moreover, it’s
predictable but fact, the number of drivers operating under the
influence increases during the holiday period.
The Wilbraham Police Department urges all motorists to follow the
rules of the road, and not drive while impaired. The message is simple,
“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
