Stony Hill Road Sidewalk Project

The Stony Hill Road Sidewalk Project is a continuation of the Town’s broader Complete Streets Initiative, which prioritizes infrastructure improvements for all modes of transportation, including vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.  This project aims to enhance pedestrian safety and overall accessibility. Particularly for residents along Stony Hill Road, various subdivisions, and the Wilbraham Commons, the addition of a sidewalk will improve safety for those wishing to walk to businesses and shopping centers along Boston Road.

A new section of asphalt paved sidewalk is proposed to connect with new asphalt sidewalk installed in 2022/2023 in front of 217 Stony Hill Road and run up the western side of Stony Hill Road to connect with the existing sidewalk at the intersection of Stony Hill Road and Boston Road.

A public hearing to remove trees and widen the section of the road along the proposed path (a scenic road) for the sidewalk will be scheduled in the near future. Funding is subject to local approval in FY 27.
